- It's not really "news" at all -- certainly not to Economics majors -- but it's nice to see Professor Ian Walker of the University of Warwick declaring out loud that time is money, and all of your time can be quantified in dollars and cents (or pounds and Euros, in his case). (5.31.2002)
- While it may be that just about everyone has a stake in spreading the Internet, the technicalities of enforcing international law may put a damper on some people's innovation. I have the feeling that we're far from aware of just how much the rules (of a lot of things) have changed. (5.30.2002)
- Military air superiority rules:
- B-1B's at USAFA Graduation Parade
- F-15E's at USAFA Graduation Parade
- F-16D's at USAFA Graduation Parade
- The article "About A Boy Who Isn't" in the May 26th New York Times will probably leave your head spinning for a good half-hour. It describes the life of a 13-year-old girl living as a boy with administrators' support in a California junior high. I place my bet now that the birth identity and name of the subject, "M.", will be publicly revealed within two years. (5.27.2002)
- Does it make me evil that I thought Eminem's New Video was actually pretty funny? The rhythm is catchy and I'm stuck wondering whether I "should" like it. Questions of that sort, though, tend to create things like over-done analyses of MAD Magazine and other "social texts." There's a time for analysis and a time to let it go. I have the feeling academics are going to spend some time on the film so violent it sickened a Cannes audience. (5.27.2002)
