Socialism Rears Its Ugly Head (7.8.2004)
Protest and Counter-Protest
The un-protesters at ProtestWarrior.com have been infiltrating the more radical leftist crowds and their demonstrations. The full video is almost 45 minutes long, but any given five-minute segment seems quite enough to get the point across: There's a lot of anger without a lot of purpose on the radical left. Not to mention that the protests are often led by Communist front groups. No, really.

Threats to Western Civilization (7.8.2004)
Suicide Terrorists Aren't Who You Might Think They Are
Some studies suggest they aren't poor and uneducated, but rather relatively well-off and better-educated than their peers. The difference lies in the intensity of their religious feeling. Worth considering.

We All Need a Little Humor (7.8.2004)
Skinny Reporter Dons Fat Suit
It's all been done before, of course, but this version comes from the UK: "To the men, I had, quite simply, disappeared. The little courtesies, smiles and assessing glances from the opposite sex that usually punctuate my day were gone. I had performed the magic trick of being 4ft wide and invisible." Not to be outdone, a competing paper swears Britney Spears's in-laws-to-be hate her. But who cares?

Computers and the Internet (7.8.2004)
Homeland Security Says Don't Use Internet Explorer
It's one of several recommendations for reducing exposure to Internet attacks. The problem is that so much of the population uses IE that any critical security flaws that are exploited could bring everything to a screeching halt. Alternative browsers include Mozilla, Firefox (PC World discussion), and Opera. Other alternative browsers are also available. Lots of people seem to like Opera because it's very fast. Mozilla has usually been slow in my experience, but there are some suggestions for making Firefox as fast as Opera.
