Before You Make Your Next Joke About Sewage
My primary business is in the water and wastewater treatment market. Naturally, a lot of people think it's funny to make fun of the sewage aspect of the business. That's only because we as Americans are privileged enough, for the most part, to live in places where we flush the toilet and everything inside disappears forever. Unless you were on a recent boat tour of Chicago when a tour bus crossed a bridge overhead and dropped raw sewage on your head. Before you make your next crack, then, about anyone working in wastewater treatment, ask yourself: Are these people really lower on the status ladder than me? Even when they do difficult, dangerous work to ensure that the rest of us don't have to deal with our own waste problems?
