Structural engineering from the Bible: "And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined." Storm tracks for the entire globe give a good idea of just how active the atmosphere is. (USGS link from VoluntaryXChange)

Barro vs. Reich
Marginal Revolution supplied the link. Reich is actively involved with Sen. Kerry's campaign. Barro is not involved with either campaign, though he's in the debate as a counterweight to Reich, making him the surrogate for a representative from President Bush's campaign. Note how Barro concedes that the President's economic policies have not been flawless -- yet Reich persists in acting like a demagogue over issues about which he certainly knows better, like Social Security.
