Regulations for Everything Make Everyone a Criminal
Law passed in Detroit area makes it specifically illegal to falsely advertise kosher or halal foods, with a 90-day jail term as penalty. Is this not already covered by truth-in-advertising laws? Is this not something that can easily be solved by the self-regulation of a healthy market? Doesn't this smack a little too much of government getting into the business of religion? The whole idea of government -- on any level -- being involved in religious regulations is extremely worrisome.
