Security hole in Word documents means today is a good day not to open attachments
Symantec has already identified Trojan horse viruses taking advantage of the problem. Attacks are being launched from China and Taiwan. Loading timely anti-virus updates will help, but it would also be wise to at least load and become familiar with alternative word processors like OpenOffice and to get in the habit of exchanging documents through PDF rather than simply sending .DOC files. OpenOffice includes a PDF utility that allows the user to create PDF files from Word files.
