A columnist at the National Review suggests he doesn't think Chuck Hagel will run for President, based partly on the observation that the domain name Hagel2008.com is taken but nothing's there. But a simple WHOIS search would've indicated that the domain is owned by Hagel's Sandhills PAC. He may or may not run, but a simple WHOIS search isn't much to ask and would've explained everything. Hagel is one of the few real pro-market 2008 Presidential candidates, either announced or prospective.

Meanwhile, Wal-Mart is trying to figure out which consumer segments to target, which is an utterly different strategy from the geography-based plan they originally used to grow into an empire. Some people question the report's design (which is fair), but the bigger issue is that no business stays king of its market forever. Just ask Sears and Montgomery Ward, each of which once was top of the heap among retailers.
