An Onion flashback to 1999 jokes about America's creditors repossessing New England to help cover the nation's $5.5 trillion debt. But as of today, we owe $11.126 trillion. That's $11,126,941,485,713.37, to be precise. Or $36,346.53 for every single man, woman, and child in this country. By comparison, a $5.5 trillion debt looks downright affordable.

Google's annual April 1st product rollout combines artificial intelligence with time savings. But the real excitement should surround their Documents on Demand feature, which will offer subliminal text and images in presentations to aid corporate slide monkeys around the globe. But their announcement may very well be eclipsed by the Guardian's "plans" to abandon ink and deliver news via Twitter only. And if only Brain Search were coming out soon. There are, of course, people who think we'll be able to save our brains to hard drive backups within a couple of decades.

The rise of mid-game text messages and Twitter updates from the players themselves tends to blur the distinction
