Health Tired doctors are a threat to patient health
Doctors working for the Queensland (Australia) Health agency report working up to 72 hours straight during their shifts, and 80% in a survey say that they've made errors in prescriptions because of fatigue. The outrageous hours required of some doctors have never made sense any more than asking airline pilots to do the same. Human factors engineering tells us that human beings can only work for certain periods of time without rest before fatigue makes them dangerously ineffective.

Science and Technology Would an intelligent creator make old people's eyes fail so they couldn't read the Bible?
Whether or not a higher power exists, there is a tremendous amount of beauty and elegance in the natural world around us -- from fractal mathematics to the exquisite nature of mosses. If only as much energy were spent exploring the beauty of the natural world and seeking to understand it better as is routinely expended arguing about religion, the entire world would be better off.
