A snowstorm preempted most of our regular discussion tonight, but we had planned to talk about these topics:
- Solving problems with social businesses -- sometimes, the best way to make a problem go away is to build a business around fixing it
- North Korea's trying to move a lot closer to war with the South. It's a reflection of the ridiculous nature of a Communist government. There's no sense of responsibility to the good of the people, no matter what the supposedly high-minded political screeds would say. No sane democratic republic would threaten nuclear war in a place that's so tightly-packed that it would mean certain national suicide.
- Debt matters, no matter what Paul Krugman and his friends tell you. Krugman is getting out of control these days, arguing essentially that Federal debt has no consequences at all. It's reckless talk, and his credibility as a Nobel-winning economist is winning over people who don't know well enough to see through the madness of his arguments.
